The Brasília Metro, also known as Metro-DF, began operations in 2001, making a significant addition to the public transportation system of Brazil's capital city. With its opening, Brasília joins the ranks of major global cities with a metro system designed to enhance urban mobility and meet the growing transit needs of its residents. Currently, the Metro of the Federal District has 27 stations on two lines, and runs for 42.38 kilometers. The metro system serves the Federal District, connecting major areas of Brasília and contributing to the city's efficient and sustainable transportation infrastructure. As the network expanded, additional lines and stations were introduced, providing residents and visitors with a reliable means of transportation in and around the city.
