Line 5 opened on November 15, 1995, and runs from Banghwa to Hanam Geomdansan. It is 55.0 km long and is also known as the Purple Line. This line connects western Seoul, Yeouido, central Seoul, and eastern Seoul. The line includes Gimpo Airport, Yeouido, Gwanghwamun, Wangsimni, and Cheonho, and can interchange with major subway and railway lines.
