Metropolitan line Overview
Chesham branch was opened in 1889 as part of the Metropolitan Railway's expansion into rural Buckinghamshire. Initially, it operated as a shuttle branch, but after modernization works and timetable changes, direct services to London became more common. Today, the route runs from Chesham to Aldgate, passing through stations such as Chalfont & Latimer, Harrow-on-the-Hill, and Baker Street. It is the most remote branch of the Metropolitan line and connects the outer suburbs to central London.
