The main line of Kunming Metro Line 1 was opened in phases between May 2013 and April 2014. It runs between the South Ring Road and University Town (South). This line is part of the city's north-south corridor and includes most of the stations of Line 1. It connects the main urban area with Chenggong District and has an interchange with Line 2 at the South Ring Road station.
