Saint Petersburg Metro (Петербургский метрополитен)
The Saint Petersburg Metro is a rapid transit system in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Inaugurated on November 15, 1955, the metro system has become one of the world's deepest and most artistically decorated networks. The network consists of 5 lines with a total length of 124 kilometers (77 mi). It has 72 stations including 7 transfer points. Serving approximately 2 million passengers daily, it is the 26th busiest metro system in the world. Known for its impressive architecture, palatial underground spaces and wide coverage, the Metro plays a vital role in connecting diverse neighbourhoods, historical sites and major transport hubs, contributing significantly to the vibrant urban life of the city.
