Lausanne Metro (Métro de Lausanne)
Launched 2008, the Lausanne Metro is a relatively recent addition to Switzerland's public transport landscape. Serving the city of Lausanne and its surrounding areas, the metro system consists of two lines – the M1 and the M2. Notable for its modern and efficient design, the Lausanne Metro plays a vital role in connecting major neighbourhoods, universities and business districts. The M2 line, in particular, is celebrated for its innovative use of funicular technology navigating the city's hilly terrain with panoramic views of Lake Geneva. As a vital component of Lausanne's transit infrastructure, the metro system has increasingly become an integral part of daily life for residents and visitors.
