İzmir Metro (İzmir Metrosu)
Izmir Metro is a light metro system in Izmir, Turkey that is in the process of being expanded with new stations in service. The current system, consisting of one line, starts at Fahrettin Altay station in the south-western part of the metropolitan area and runs north-eastwards and ends at Ivka-3 in Bornova. Izmir's metro line is 19.8 kilometers (12.3 mi) long, and serves 17 stations as of 26 July 2014. The metro network not only contributes to reducing traffic congestion but also promotes sustainable and environment-friendly transportation in line with modern urban development principles. As Izmir Metro continues to develop, it continues to symbolize progress, efficiency and accessibility for the people of Izmir, promoting a more connected and dynamic urban environment.
