Rennes Metro (Métro de Rennes)

The Rennes Metro is a light metro system serving the city of Rennes in Brittany, France. Opened on March 15, 2002, the system currently consists of two lines, Line A and B. It has 28 stations and extends for 23.5 kilometers (14.6 mi), with most of the route underground. Line A connects the quarter of Villagen with the quarter of Potterie, passing through the city centre. It is based on Siemens VAL (Vehicle Automatic Leger or Light Automatic Vehicle in English) technology. In 2023, approximately 145,000 trips were made daily on Line A, and 80,000 trips on Line B. With discussions around expansion plans and a focus on sustainable practices, the Rennes Metro not only serves as a practical means of transportation, but also reflects the city's visionary approach to urban development.
