The Oslo Metro is the rapid transit system of Oslo, Norway, operated by Sporveien T-banen on contract from transit authority Rutgers. Since its opening in 1966, the Metro has become an integral part of daily life for residents and a convenient mode of transportation for visitors exploring the city. The network consists of five lines that run through the city centre, with a total length of 85 kilometers (53 mi), serving 101 stations of which 17 are underground or indoors. In addition to serving 14 of Oslo's 15 boroughs, two lines run to Kolsas and Österres in the neighboring municipality of Bærum. As Oslo moves forward as a modern and environmentally conscious city, the T-Ben remains a symbol of efficient, accessible and sustainable urban mobility.
